About this project
For this Houston TX home, the homeowner wanted more storage and a cleaner entertainment wall that could handle everyday use without looking like a loose furniture setup. The project included a custom-built entertainment bookcase with painted shaker cabinets, open shelving, glass-front upper cabinet doors, and a centered TV area.
The build was designed around both storage and display. The lower cabinet section adds hidden storage, while the upper shelving gives the room space for books, decor, and media items. A granite countertop was installed across the console area, giving the wall unit a durable finished surface and a clean transition between the cabinetry and the stone backsplash.
The homeowner also wanted the console built to accommodate an electric fireplace. The finished layout brings the TV, fireplace, shelving, cabinetry, and natural stone backsplash together into one built-in feature wall. The result is a more organized living room with better storage, improved function, and a finished carpentry look that fits the home.
The custom cabinet and fireplace console turned out beautiful. The shaker cabinets, granite top, and shelving gave the room a much more finished look, and everything feels solid, clean, and professionally done from start to finish.
